A picture is worth a thousand words. A special thank you to Shirley Clark, Dc. Ray Herrick, Bill Crandall, our men’s group and youth group who came to the aid of our parishioners in need last weekend. Instead of going far away on a mission trip, these groups helped people who weren’t afraid to admit they needed help. How are you with that? Are you hesitant to ask for help when you need it? Sometimes we need to let go of pride, and with great humility, admit that we need help. Let’s pray to God the psalm for this weekend: “Lord, come to my aid!” Give the Lord permission to help you in all that you do.
In the gospel this weekend, we hear Jesus say to his disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!” This Monday and Tuesday I had the opportunity to attend some Pastor Training classes at the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe. As I met with priests, deacons and lay leaders, it was good to see how many good people in our diocese desire to set the earth on fire! That is my desire for this parish—to come alive, full of life and love for the Lord. How can we, as a parish,in a particular way, set the earth on fire with the love of Jesus? Let’s ask Jesus to ignite our hearts with His love so much so that we can’t hold it back—that we share Him with great joy!
May God’s peace and joy be with you,
Fr. Jeremy
